Soul of Concrete
Making corroding steel obsolete in concrete.
Reinforcement is the last layer of construction still built by hand. We replace the thousands of steel bars inside every structure with one automated, corrosion-free module. A 150-year-old trade becomes a product.
This is how we still build
Steel reinforcement is still cut, bent and tied together by hand, bar by bar. Around nineteen hours of labor go into every ton.
The whole reinforcement cage. One module: SOUL.
SOUL is a three-dimensional, fiber-wound reinforcement made on an automated line. It arrives as a finished module and is set in a single step on site. It does not corrode, and it can be produced from any fiber: carbon, basalt, aramid, glass or natural fiber.
The status quo
- 19 h of hand labor per ton of rebar
- 50 % of construction cost is labor
- +909 % rise in construction cost over 30 years, while productivity grew just 3 %
- 1 in 3 bridges failing from corrosion
- €100 bn bridge repair backlog, mostly corrosion
What the module delivers
- −40 % total cost on the finished element
- 20× faster to place on site
- −80 % embedded CO₂ footprint
- 0 % corrosion across the lifetime
Proof
- Patent-protected reinforcement architecture – European patent EP 3 705 657 B1, validated in Germany, Austria and Switzerland; three further European patents pending.
- Experimentally validated across small-scale and large-scale structural tests under controlled research conditions.
- Pilot-ready – selecting development partners for the first pilots, 2026–2027.
Where it is used
SOUL is an alternative to conventional steel rebar for everything that carries load. Precast and prefabricated concrete elements (Fertigteile) are the primary first use case: the module arrives finished and is placed in a single step, which suits industrial precast production. Beyond precast, the same automated line produces reinforcement for buildings, bridges and civil infrastructure.

Rund neunzehn Stunden Arbeit stecken in jeder Tonne.
Sitz in Dresden.
